It’s going to be the first time Boise’s Basque Club will host a cycling plan and they’ve called it Txirrindulari Bike Ride. As Izaskun Kortazar told Euskalkultura.com, “it’s going to be a free event opened to everybody, members and not members alike.” Kortazar and Geneva Ayarra helped organizer Delfina Krakau planning the event. The three of them are members of the Basque Club.
Boise, USA. Riders will meet at the Basque Club at 8:00 a.m. and will start pedaling thirty minutes later. The route, 18 miles long, will begin at the club to reach Lucky Peak where the bunch will turn around to return to the starting point. “It is not necessary to ride all the miles, though,” said Kortazar. The pack will ride around Julia Davis Park, through a path known as the green belt. “It’s going to be safe,” she states.
Organizers marked Warm Springs Golf Course and Lucky 13 Tavern as two “good” spots to turn around. “Actually, people could turn around whenever they want but this way they might organize their route with their friends and family in advance, not to have to wait by themselves at the Basque Club for the rest to come back.” Delfina Krakau will follow the riders in a vehicle, "in case they need some help".
By the end of the route participants will enjoy a potluck at the Euskal Etxea. Kortazar explains that many people love cycling in Boise and, in many of those bike-plans, people wear costumes. That’s why “people are welcome to wear whatever they want”. “It’s so nice to see non members of the Club participating in our plans, we like to organize events that are attractive to everybody”, the organizer says.
