Bilbo, Bizkaia. The International Literature Festival in Bilbao, “Gutun Zuria,” (White Letter) is taking place this year March 23-27th with the motto “Here: The Place that Gathers all Where’s,” inspired by the verse of the poem “Hemendik Idazten dugu” (We write from here) by Koldo Izagirre. As a novelty, this year’s edition will include small “venues,” outside of the Basque Country, specifically in Havana, Cuba, La Plata, Argentina and Casablanca, Morocco.
The program abroad is the following:
-Today, Wednesday the 24th from Havana Cuba, Martica Minipunto (pseudonym of Martha Luisa Hernández Cadenas) will present ‘Escribir con la lengua’ (Write with language).The talk can be followed at this link, 21:30hs in Bilbao; 16:30 in Havana.
-Tomorrow, Thursday the 25th from La Plata, Argentina, Damián Tabarovsky will talk about "El aquí como respuesta excéntrica"(The here as an eccentric response). The talk is available at this link, 17:30hs in Bilbo; 13:30 in La Plata.
-Also tomorrow, Thursday the 25th from Casablanca, Morocco Salah Malouli willpresent on the theme “Contemporary Culture in Darija” This talk is available at this link, 21:30hs in Bilbo; 21:30 in Casablanca.
In person activities will take place at the Azkuna Zentroa (Alhóndiga Bilbao) as every year, although last year’s edition had to be cancelled due to COVID-19.
Nevertheless, the 2020 edition did result in a book, presented this year that includes original texts of the authors that were going to participate. More information on the festival is available here.
