Vitoria-Gasteiz. The Basque Government gave the green light today for grants that will be awarded in 2020, through the Secretary General of Foreign Action, to Basque clubs, federations and confederations abroad at its weekly Government Counsel meeting. Grants will total 902,300 Euros, the same amount awarded in 2019.
The majority of this sum 782,300 Euros will correspond to Chapter IV grants (activity expense and operating) and aim to support annual programs or concrete activities organized by Euskal Etxeas, preferentially in the area of supporting youth, women, and the image abroad, communication and the recuperation of Historic Memory, as well as operating expenses.
For Chapter VII grants (infrastructure expenses) 120,000 Euros will be dedicated to totally or partially finance expenses, or actions that contribute to improvements of club locales, such as repairing damages caused by catastrophes, eliminating architectural barriers, construction of clubhouses, adapting spaces for young people, or introducing technology for the development of youth and women’s activities.
With the publication of the call again in December, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu, Director of the Basque Community Abroad adheres to his commitment to changing the timeline for grants allowing monies to be received in a more operational and reasonable time frame for the Basque clubs.
The call will go into effect the day after its publication in the BOPV – the Official Bulletin of the Basque Country, anticipated in the coming days making the grant deadline a month after that date.
