The Euskal Jatorri Basque Club in the province of Misiones is in a very productive period, thanks to the combined work of its members. The most important project of the year, without a doubt, the children’s workshop. The club also organizes other events for the community, monthly food sales, and a film series. Among their celebrations, next Saturday, they will celebrate San Fermin with a dinner at the Rotary Club.
Posadas, Argentina. The Euskal Jatorri Basque Club in Posadas is extending two invitations for this weekend. One, on Friday July 1 at 20:30pm, they will show the last film of their 2016 series that the club organizes at the municipal library. The series, that included Bypass, by Aitor Mazo and Patxo Telleria, and Las cartas de Alou, (Letters from Alou) by Montxo Armendariz, will close with No tengas miedo, (Don’t be Afraid) also by Armendariz.
After the film, as at other showings, there will be a tasting of wine, olive oil and olives, provided by Ros & Gran Distributing with wine from the Atilio Avena Bodegas.
On Saturday, the event will be the San Fermin celebration at the Rotary Club, located on España Street 3056. During dinner there will be dancing, and Basque music, raffles, awards and some surprises. Tickets cost $100, and the menu includes lentil stew. Tickets need to be purchased in advance by calling: 3764 442 3771.
Workshops
Along with these invitations, the Club also published information about the workshops that the club is so successfully organizing. The Children’s Art Workshop, aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 12, introduce them to Basque culture through various activities like arts and crafts, dancing, music, games food and walks, among other activities. These take place on Wednesdays from 17:30-19:00pm.
They have also begun Basque dancing workshops for youth and adults. These classes are also on Wednesdays from 19-20:00. Both activities are held at the Rotary Club.
Food sales
On June 12, they held their second food event of the year aimed at raising funds to remodel the clubhouse that the club shares with the Rotary Club. The Basque club reported that just as their first sale, this one was also successful and surpassed 150 portions of paella.
