Trelew, Argentina. The mural will be done by local artists Martina Mezzetti and Axel Díaz, graduates of UNLP, and will contain traditional symbols chosen by the Board of Directors, including baserris, the Tree of Gernika, a lauburu, eguzkilore, the Ikurriña, txapela and handkerchiefs, dantzaris, sheep and the sea. Work on the mural was to begin last weekend, but had to be postponed due to the weather, but the artists will begin as soon as conditions allow.
This is not the only news from this Patagonian Basque institution. Despite a difficult year that the country and the world in general is experiencing, the club has been regenerated throughout 2020 in such a way that they have participated in meetings and FEVA activities carried out virtually. Recently, members and the board of directors did a radio presentation evaluating their activities, invited to do so by LU20 Radio Chubut, as well as to talk about Basque gastronomy.
2020 is also the year that the Basque club became part of the Federation of Cultural Entities in Chubut, recently formed, that includes diverse institutions and communities with local activities. Through the federation, the club was also part of the Festival of Communities virtually in Trelew.
In regards to the renovations at the clubhouse, it not only includes building work, but also a small library with material received from Euskal Herria. Interested members just have to contact the club in order to use it.
