Trujillo, Peru. Some of the first undertakings of this young Basque club have been talks presenting the Basque reality and its contribution to Peru, the creation of the youth group Muga Gabe Batuz, raffles to raise money for a clubhouse, as well as Basque language lessons with a first class that took place last Friday. These are some of the proposals that the club has carried out to date since its official recognition by the Basque Government last December.
The “Basque-Peruvian Cultural Center of Trujillo” is the official name of the entity that is also known as the “Trujilloko Euskal Etxea.” The center elected its first president, Leonel Berrocal, and one of its main supporters as the vice-president, Wilfredo Lizarzaburu.
The Trujilloko Euskal Etxea is looking forward to the 7th World Congress of Basque Collectivities that will take place in Bilbao in October that will provide it with a huge opportunity to get information, expand knowledge and relationships, share experiences and in general to provide the newly established institution with new tools.
