Rosario, Argentina. The workshop was part of the distribution day of the “Food Card,” aimed at the most vulnerable, benefitting some 30 thousand people (and will reach some 60 thousand children). With a degree in nutrition and with a 25-year long career in local gastronomy, the well-known Basque-Argentine Chef, Itziar Aguirre was invited by the city’s Social Economy Department.
“The workshops are all part of a nutrition program and focus not only on food, keeping in mind that part of the population can’t access all foods on a daily basis, but above all, on eating well,” Aguirre explained. Her class provided ideas on how to optimize the consumption of fruits, vegetables and legumes, “above all food that are available to the consumer, at a good price, and that people may not know how to prepare,” she added.
The sukaldari highlighted that she joined the project “with great love and commitment,” and added, “The nutritional plan is, in my opinion, one of the most important policies that a government must carry out, in any country, beyond the flags. We should all be able to access quality food. With this card, I hope that the local economy is favored. To me knowing how to cook is one of the most powerful tools that a human can possess and to teach how, is my grain of sand,” she concluded.
