Arrecifes, Argentina. Born in the heart of the Denak Bat Euskaldunak Basque Club, Maral has been performing classics from the Basque and Argentine songbook for more than a decade. The group was one of the first Argentine bands to sing in Euskera and rearrange well-known Basque songs with a local accent. Maral is comprised of Mariana Dominé Irigoyen, Adrián Charras, Christian Rodríguez, Billy Vogt and María Eugenia Cozza, since its inception. The group will perform “Unforgettable Songs,” on Saturday June 22nd at the Arrecifes Basque Club.
All of the group’s members have other parallel projects but they never stop being Maral. This is why each has to be accommodated every year in order to perform together at least once a year. In 2019, they have also embarked on recording a new album, according to the group’s leader, Mariana Dominé Irigoyen.
This will be a “Basque” album with a selection of songs in Basque much like the group did on Taupadak y Canciones para la sobremesa (Taupadak and After Dinner Songs). Although the release has yet to be determined, their fans are waiting for their new work and when they will be able to hear Maral on digital music platforms. Everything indicates that news of the album will not be delayed much longer.
