Laprida, Argentina. The Center of Cultural Studies and Basque Nationalism Arturo Campion was established in 2003 with “The goal of inviting researchers, professors, historians and member of the community who are dedicated to the study and diffusion of Basque culture, as well as to the idea of Basque Nationalism here in the Republic of Argentina.” It was under these premises that the association has run for more than ten years. Members of the Center are invited to give talks in Basque clubs, and participate in opportunities in other institutions as well as publish annually the “Guregandik” annuary.
Members of the Center gathered to celebrate the 11th year of the entity as well as for its annual meeting. The event took place at the Laprida Basque club on March 29th and was attended by Cesar Arrondo, Eduardo Torry, Nicolás Chaves, Juan Carlos Ibarrola, Carlos Arturo Martínez, José Domingo Ormaetxea and Mikel Ezkerro.
According to the agenda, members of the Center dedicated themselves to tasks of internal organization, including evaluating last year, evaluating talks given for FEVA, and the annual reception of “Guregandik 8.” At the same time, and looking towards 2014, it was once again agreed upon to give talks for FEVA, research topics and seminars were presented as well as discussing new additions and losses. Finally, Nicolas Chaves was named the new webmaster and some questions were raised regarding the 10th edition of “Guregandik,” that will be published this year. The magazine will also include a note on the 25th anniversary of the Laprida Basque club that will take place this year.

Around 19:30, the club opened its doors for the presentation of the 9th edition of “Guegandik.” The work is the result of work done during 2013 gathering articles by the following: Jokin Azkue, Patxi Azparren, Jesús Valencia, Marcelino Irianni, César Arrondo, Norma Ríos, Jon Ander Ramos Martínez, Nicolás Chaves, Juan Carlos Ibarrola, Pello Oiarzabal, Sergio Miguel Rekarte, Luis Martínez Garate, Sho Hagio, Eduardo Torry and Carlos Arturo Martínez. The price of each copy is $70 and interested parties can get it by contacting the club library, Maria Ester Arrondo (mearrondo@laprida.net).
After the presentation, member of the Center Arturo Campion and Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea representative, Carlos Martinez gave a talk on Iparralde, which was followed by a toast to the 25th anniversary of Lagunen Etxea.
