The city of Olavarria invites everyone to the first edition of its gastronomic cultural fair “Flavor Wave” this weekend in front of the Municipal Cultural Center in San Jose. Shortly after celebrating its 7th anniversary of its reactivation, the Gure Etxe MaiteaBasque Club will be part of the event with a stand and a dance performance that will show the community some of the activities that are carried out at the club.
Olavarria, Argentina. The event, presented as a gathering that “features culinary arts and artistic expression,” will take place on Friday through Sunday April 7-9, in front of the Municipal Cultural Center in San Jose, specifically on Riobamba Street between Belgrano and Necochea. Organized by the city’s Vice-secretary of Culture and Education, the festival will be carried out by gastronomic companies and community associations with stands in which they can market and display their products. It is also will include workshops and talks by professionals, as well as shows and games for the kids.
The Gure Etxe Maitea Basque Club will be present with a stand and it children’s dance group will also perform at the first edition of “Flavor Wave.” The cultural stand will provide visitors with information about the Basque Country, about Basque club activities, of course and will also have some typical Basque snacks for the public to enjoy.
In regards to dances, the children will be wearing the costumes and will perform traditional dances on stage. They have already practiced many dances including Agurra.
35 Years since the Falkland War
On April 2nd the Basque club joined in the commemorative events for the Veteran’s Day of War and the Fallen in the Falklands. The ceremony took place in front of the monument, and included the participation of a delegation from the Gure Etxe Maitea Basque Club. Members of the children’s dance group also carried the flag of Argentina along with the Ikurriña.
