The latest newsletter of the Agirre Lehendakaria Center for Social and Political Studies (ALC) based on the Leioa Campus of the University of the Basque Country and directed by former Lehendakari Juan Jose Ibarretxe, included an evaluation of the talks that Ibarretxe has carried out in universities, Basque clubs and other places in Brazil, Uruguay and Chile during the month of November. 

Vitoria-Gasteiz.  Lehendakari Ibarretxe has been carrying out a constant work over the last few years in contacts and international projection through talks, presentations and meetings in different countries. The goal of “presenting the Basque case and identifying different project of strategic collaboration between Euskadi and different South American countries,” was carried out by a delegation of the Agirre Lehendakaria Center who traveled to Brazil, Uruguay and Chile from November 12-19 to hold meetings with representatives of different public and private organizations as well as give talks at different centers, universities and Basque clubs of those countries.  

In Brazil the delegation met with the advisor of the governor of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (RGDS) and with the local Basque community.  Ibarretxe presented the Basque case at the Foundation of Economy and Statistics of the State of Rio, at the Superior School of Public Ministry in Porto Alegre and at the Foundation School of Sociology and Politics in Sao Paulo, members of the young Basque club of RGDS attended this last gathering.

In Uruguay a meeting was organized with the president and the director of the academic University Institute CLAEH (Latin American Center of Human Economics) in Montevideo and Ibarretxe gave a talk to the Basque community there at the Euskal Erria Basque club.   The Basque case was presented at both venues. 

Finally in Chile, meetings were held with representatives of Emprebask and the Basque Chilean Corporation as well as with members and the Board of Euzko Etxea of Santiago.  In addition, Ibarretxe gave a talk at the College of Administration and Economy of the University of Santiago in Chile, under the title "Global Society...local answer"; took part at a seminary organized by Eurochile on "Successful Policies and Models for Economic Transformation"; and talk in front of an audience at the Basque Club of Santiago on "The Basque Case in the World".
