Viedma-Patagones, Argentina. The choir at the Aberri Etxea Basque Club in Viedma and Patagones will resume activity in 2020 with its first rehearsal this Wednesday, February 19th at the clubhouse beginning at 6:30pm. Coinciding with the beginning of the annual course, the group has launched an invitation to anyone who would like to join in the project: the choir is looking for both male and female voices above the age of 13. No prior experience is required.
“Abestu Beti,” (Always Sing) has existed for more than two decades in the region, and according to its members “with a large Basque and Argentine repertoire, it seeks in every song and choral activity to convey the meaning of music for the Basque people which is summarized in cultivating their language and their joyful and festive being.”
Directed by Cristian Castillo, “Abestu Beti,” represents the Aberri Etxea Basque Club and the Basque community in a myriad of activities, being one of the last before the summer break participating in its ninth Christmas, held every year, “The Little Sisters of the Holy Family” at the Pedro Ecay Hospital in Patagones.
