There will also be another Basque film session organized by the local club.
Viedma, Argentina. The communion between the clubs in Patagonia last year does nothing but make them stronger. Viedma is now ready for representatives from various clubs to gather at the 4th Annual Meeting of Patagonian Basque Clubs. Respecting the bases of decentralization on which this communion was constituted – remember that it was established that the site of these meetings would rotate – the meeting is coming to Viedma for the first time where it is being organized by the local Basque club, Aberri Etxea.
The delegates’ reception will begin on Friday, the 29th at 7:30 with the showing of the movie The Invisible Guardian. The event will take place at the Patagones Cultural Center on Mitre 27, admission is free and open to the public.
The main day of the gathering will be on Saturday the 30th with the participation of six clubs that will meet from 9am-1pm. After lunch the representatives will return to work and meet with representatives of different cultural activities that take place in the clubs and exchange experiences. The meeting will conclude at 7pm when an Aurresku will be performed before a cocktail hour. At 10p the clubs will enjoy a dinner of piperade and txistorra, lamb stew with pure, and desert. There will also be raffles, dancing and singing. Dinner tickets need to be reserved ahead of time by emailing: centrovascoviedmapatagones@gmail.com or via Facebook.
Representatives of the hosting club that includes the Basque community in the counties of Viedma and Carmen de Patagones said they are “really excited to welcome the Patagonian Basque club representatives." "The reunion's main objective includes mutual enrichment, the opportunity to share everyone’s experiences, collaboration in training the growth of every center and the diffusion of the culture of our ancestors,” they told EuskalKultura.com.
Film Series
The night before the meeting there will be the first September installment of the Basque Film Series, organized by the Aberri Etxea Basque Club. The film chosen is No Controls by Borja Cobeaga, and will begin at 8pm at the Basque club, located on Alberdi 169. To complement this activity the Abestu Choir, directed by Cristian Castillo, will perform for the first time in 2017.
