Carmen de Patagones, Argentina. The county of Viedma and Carmen de Patagones celebrates the Patagonian Sovereignty festival every year. The 2020 festivities took place last week, March 4-8 and with their usual commitment, the Basque community in the area was represented by txikis at the Euskera and Culture Workshop, by the “Lagun Onak” dance group, as well as by the Abestu Beti Choir, Basque students and friends and other members of the Aberri Etxea Basque Club.
The events began on March 4th at the El Condor Spa, where the sinking of the Duquesa de Goias ship was remembered, after the first skirmishes that later led to the deed of March 7th. The members of the Basque club attended, as well as the official act carried out at the Founder’s Square and in the civic-military and Creole parade on Saturday the 7th.
During the festival, that included renowned artists, the Euskal Etxea was also present, and for the third year in a row with its cultural stand. See the photo album here.
