Canuelas, Argentina. The regional dancers' meeting and Aberri Eguna celebration organized by the Cañuelas Basque club will take place this year on April 6th and 7th. As every year, the goal of this event is, on one hand, to get youth together from different Basque clubs to shorten the wait until National Basque week [BTW, we already can confirm the dates: October 11th, 12th and 13th in Villa Maria, Cordoba], and on the other, to celebrate Aberri Eguna or the Day of the Basque Homeland together.
The program of events will follow the same pattern as previous years. Delegations will arrive at the venue in Smata on Saturday morning, and after lunch there will be three hours of recreation and camaraderie. At 5:00 p.m. they will move to the Basque clubhouse to begin a kalejira at 6:30 p.m. to the plaza San Martin. That is where dance performances will take place on a stage in the open air so the entire city may enjoy it all. Once the show is over, the public dance will continue at the euskal etxea. The hour to say good-bye and to raise a glass to Aberri Eguna will be on Sunday at noon with a farewell meal.
Organizers of the event have published the amounts of the vouchers, which include lodging, lunch, Saturday’s dance and lunch on Sunday. For dancers and dance group directors it will be $320, while companions will pay $350. For more information inquire at the following emails: margaita18@yahoo.com.ar or vetcanuelas@yahoo.com.ar.
