Organized by the local Zazpirak Bat, the Semana Vasca at Gral. Las Heras will be held from December 1-13, 2015. As every year, the program gathers a large number of activities that are mainly related to skills and rural customs. The invitation has already been sent; anyone wishing to participate in the contests or the farewell luncheon, only has to sign up.
Gral. Las Heras, Argentina. Just a few weeks to the end of the year and the Zazpiark Bat Basque club in Gral. Las Heras has invited everyone to its Semana Vasca to say goodbye to the year in a proper way. A very successful event, nearly 100 kirolaris participate in the rural sports and some 200 diners gather to enjoy the farewell lunch.
Encourage by the success of prior editions, and hoping to repeat it, the program will begin next Tuesday with the following:
- Tuesday, December 1, 14hs: Pelota championship between the Cultural Center and Sports Center “The oak trees.” This will be played in the 30 meter trinkete with goma pelota.
- Thursday, December 10, 21hs: Basque club mus tournament at the Sportsmen club.
- Saturday, December 12, 11hs: Wood cutting competition (with a scythe); 16:30, Skeet shooting contests with rifles of different calibers. Both activities will take place in front of the Metalurgica Echegaray. There will be a Basque cantina.
- Sunday, December 13, 11hs: Rural Basque sports: Wood chopping with axe (Aizkora or Aizkol Jokoa), Wood cutting with a chain saw and Sokatira (tug of war). These activities will take place on Lozano Street in front of the club. At 2pm, Basque lunch to say farewell to the year. During the BBQ trophies will be presented to the winners of all the competitions and there will also be a dance performance by the local dancers and those from Denak Bat in Cañuelas.
