Lazkao, Gipuzkoa. Having overcome the difficulties imposed by the pandemic and arriving, via a jammed Barajas due to snow storm Filomena, Lazkao is hosting ten young people from Argentina and Uruguay as part of their training as Basque teachers. The group took its exams in Argentina in mid-2019, as part of the Euskara Mundan Program, training that they will now be complete with this Barnetegi at the Maizpide Euskaltegi in Lazkao at the end of February.
Eight participants are from Argentina and two from Uruguay. Those from Uruguay are Andrea Bella and Laura Moreno; and the eight others Sebastián Amaya (Laurak Bat, Buenos Aires), Begoña Tisera (San Nicolás), Lautaro Piñeira (Mendoza), Marcial Agostini Zubillaga (Necochea-La Plata), Marcela Inda (Euskaltzaleak, CABA), Anabel Jaureguiberry (Euskaltzaleak, Buenos Aires), Florencia Deniz (Villa María) and Alfredo Laborde (Tres Arroyos).
The team arrived at Loiu last Thursday with their trip being delayed several days due to the closure of the Madrid airport Barajas, and was welcomed in Lazkao by the Coordinator of the Euskara Munduan Program at the Etxepare Basque Institute, Kinku Zinkunegi, and by the director of Maizpide, Laida Begiristain.
They began Monday divided into two groups, levels B2 and C1, in a program that includes four hours of Basque class in the morning and another two in the afternoon that runs through the end of February.
