Asunción, Paraguay. The Euskal Etxea in Paraguay’s capital city held an important event with a program that included a talk on the history of the Basques in Paraguay, dinner and a dance performance by the group directed Ninive Orrego. Entitled “The Present of the Basques in Paraguay,” historian, Eduardo Nacayama talked anout the arrival of the Basques to the country and their influence on the Paraguayan history. The talk was very well-attended and was followed by dinner.
In a room decorated for the occasion, the gathering included a Basque menu with dishes like Cod and Garbanzos a la Bizkaina, prepared by Chef Jorge Iriberri.
To conclude the evening, the group of dantzaris directed by Nineve Orrego delighted those present with traditional dances that included typical costumes and gigantes. The “Basque Evening,” was jeld on July 31st and the local paper La Nación published about it.
