Last Monday, Argentineans celebrated their national holiday of May 25, commemorating the 205th anniversary of the May Revolution. They did so, as every year, with an extended program of activities across the country. The Basque clubs also participated in the festivities and waved the Ikurriña along with the Argentinean flag in each locality. As a sample we have created a photo gallery with images of Arrecifes, Chacabuco, Mar del Plata, Olavarria, San Nicolas, Tandil, Viedma-Patagones and Villa Maria.
Buenos Aires, Argentina. Responding to the annual invitation, Basque clubs in Argentina gathered with other local institutions, to celebrate the Day of the Homeland. Their participation manifested in various activities, but most notably in the parades in their respective communities.
Taking advantage of the day off, many Basque clubs also hosted typical dishes to sell as well as enjoy together. There were also institutions who decided to celebrate later like Eusketxe in Buenos Aires where the anniversary festivities will take place this Saturday at 8:30pm, with a program that includes a talk “The Spirit of the May Revolution,” by Professor Diego Orellana, a BBQ and dance.
