The Euskal Etxea in Madrid celebrated, for the fourth year in a row, the Basque Short Film Contest, where students at the Euskaltegi are the protagonists and the creators. The contest is a big success, year after year, and the students, as well as the audience have a great time with the original proposals. “It is part of our coursework, because it is a fun way to learn and practice Euskera,” Errukiñe Olaziregi, club teacher tells EuskalKultura.com.
Madrid, Spain. On April 14, the Euskal Etxea in Madrid celebrated the IV Annual Basque Short Film Contest with seven works, as well as another short created by the students at the Euskaltegi Txiki. First prize went to “Euskal Talent,” created by the first year students.
Awards were also presented for interpretation. The “Oscar Txapeldun” the best actress went to Mikele Urroz, while the “Oscar Txapeldun” to the best actor went to Francisco Luque. Zorionak to all!
The shorts gala that also included voting and awards presentations, gathered a large number of members and club friends at the Pello Aramburu Room at the clubhouse. The event included a professional jury comprised by Basque director and filmmaker, Aitor Oñederra, and actress, Eli Gelabert. They were in charge of breaking any ties.
At the gala, the short “About Politics” was shown. It's a title directed by Oñederra, and nominated for the upcoming Goya awards for New Director.
Here is the winning short, “Euskal Talent” (without video due to copyright of one of the songs used) and the rest of the participants.
