Jaialdi will take place in July-August in Boise, and will attract thousands of visitors from the US Basque community, Basques from abroad, as well as a big number of Americans. The "39 Rooms Film Festival" of Boise (an event independent from Jaialdi) will also join in the Basque vibe, with a Basque Short Film Showing. They are now accepting shorts, that can be in any language, but subtitled in English.
Donostia-San Sebastian. Boise’s Modern Hotel organizes a 39 Rooms Film Festival, that this year will featura a Basque Short Film Showing, in hommage to Jaialdi 2015. The cinema festival is looking for Basque shorts, or shorts on Basque topics that can be shown at the event to the large audience that will gather there.
The deadline to submit a film is the beginning of July, according to the Etxepare Basque Institute. Anyone interested in sending your work can do so via this link (Code: NU4EI8W). Shorts in any language can be presented as long as they have English subtitles.
Organizers will select films among those received and all of the Basque shorts will be considered for the 39 Rooms Film Festival as long as the director is in agreement. If the films are new, they can also be considered for the Sun Valley Film Festival.
As regards to Jaialdi, the Basque Festival was born in 1987 to promote and diffuse the Basque Culture. Thirty years later, it is one of the largest Basque festivals in the world, and provides a varied program. This year Jaialdi will be held July 28-August 2.
