Once again, the Settimana Basca (Basque Week) in Rome is here full of plans and ideas to introduce, and enjoy the Basque culture in the Italian capital. Activities will begin on Thursday with an exhibition by Asier Gogortza. Afterwards, and through December 11th, there will be several proposals, concerts with Errebal and Mursego, a book presentation by Mariasun Landa, and the film Amama….the complete program follows.
Rome, Italy. The cold Roman December will be warmed up by several activities relating to Basque culture thanks to the Settimana Basca organized by the Associazione Culturale Euskara, the Department of Basque Language and Culture of Rome3 University and the digital publisher LIBE Edizioni.
Events begin on Thursday with an exhibit by Basque artist, Asier Gogortza entitled, “Muga.” It will take place at the Nuovo Cinema Pallazo, at 7pm. The exhibit can be viewed through December 11th. Also on Thursday, but at the University of Bologna, Basque writer Mariasun Landa and translator Roberta Grozzi, will present the book La fata e il desiderio. (The Fairy and Desire). The next day, on Friday the 2nd, the book will also be presented at the Universitá Roma Tré.
On Saturday, December 3rd, the creator Asier Gogortza will direct an artistic laboratory entitled, “"Instanzine,” at the Forte Prenentino beginning at 11am.
On Wednesday, December 7th, there will be a Basque evening that will include music and dancing with the group Errebal, with musician and dantzari Gari Otamendi, along with a presentation of songs that are part of the Euskanta 2016 project.
On Thursday, singer Mursego will give a concert at the Hula Hoop Club, at 10pm, and the next day activities will conclude with a screening of the film Amama directed by Asier Altuna. This will take place at the Detour Cinema, with an aperitif served at 8pm, and the film beginning at 9pm.
