Bahía Blanca, Argentina. On Thursday, besides the atmosphere created at the Union Vasca by visiting Basques from elsewhere, as well as those who live in the city, the day featured a concert by the Oñati Ganbara Abesbatza choir in the auditorium of the Rivadavia Library. The choir performed along with the local Emsamble Lirico choir. After the concert, the entertainment and atmosphere returned to the clubhouse to enjoy time among friends holding various passports.
If Thursday’s concert combined the two aforementioned choirs with varied repertoires, in language as well as time, and musical style, on Friday there was a second concert, this time in Basque with five choirs from five Basque clubs participating along with the group from Oñati. The first part included performance by five choirs from this side of the Atlantic, specifically Coro Lagun Artean from the Aberri Etxea Basque Club in Viedma y Patagones; Eusko Alaia from Eusko Biltzar Basque Club in Coronel Pringles; Errekatarrak from the San Nicolás Basque club; the Lagun Artean Choir from the Euskal Echea in Comodoro Rivadavia; and the Euskaltzaleak Choir from Buenos Aires.
Following them, the Oñati Ganbara Abesbatza, returned to the stage dressed in traditional Basque dress as the other choirs.
