Mar del Plata, Argentina. The Basque community in South America and Basques coming from Euskal Herria had a wonderful time last weekend in Mar del Plata celebrating Semana Nacional as well as the 75th anniversary of the local Basque club. An entire year’s work was reflected in each activity. At the Artistic evening, invited groups received warm applause, as well as the locals closing the show with a Fandango and Arin Arin done by dantzaris of all ages.
Saturday night’s dance ran until dawn, even so, dantzaris and their companions returned “zintzo-zintzo” the next morning, looking at the beach at the Esplanade of the Provincial NH for plaza dancing. Facing the official dais, hundreds of dancers danced Aurresku, Ezpata Dantza, Lore Arkuak, San Migel, Arku Dantza, a chacarera and of course the typical Fandango and Ari Arin.
After the plaza dancing, leaders, authorities and the a part of the audience, approximately 800 people, had lunch at the Las Americas Hall at the NH Gran Hotel Provincial. Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu and his delegation also enjoyed lunch before leaving for Chile.
The Basque club also announced that more photos and videos will be uploaded on its Facebook page in the coming days.
