Mar del Plata, Argentina. All Basque National Weeks in Argentina are special and all have something to remember them by. Semana Vasca in Mar del Plata 2018, as part of the hosting club’s 75^th anniversary, included several of these ingredients. A visit from the Lehendakari was the main dish, as well as the presence of Basque parliamentarians at several events including Jone Berriozabal (EAJ-PNV), Iñaki Agirre (EAJ-PNV), Jasone Agirre (EH Bildu), Pili Zabala (Podemos-Ahal Dugu), Txarli Prieto (PSE) and Carmelo Barrio (PP) as members of its Committee on European Affairs, as well as the Chamber’s Lawyer, Juan Carlos Areizaga.

The director of the Etxepare Basque Institute, Irene Larraza, also attended and appeared before the Inter-Congressional meeting of Euskal Etxea from Central and South America as well as participating in the Mintzodromo. On behalf of the Government, accompanying the Lehendakari was the Secretary General of Foreign Action, Marian Elorza, the Director of Foreign Relations, Leyre Madariaga; and the director of the Basque Community Abroad, Gorka Alvarez; along with the delegate of Euskadi in Argentina-Mercosure, Sara Pagola.

All of them participated in the Txupinazo to kick off the festivities that took place on the clubhouse balcony with an address by the local Mayor, Carlos Fernando Arroyo, and local Basque club president, Asier Iriberri, along with Lehendakari Urkullu.

Prior to this, the Inter-Congressional Meeting of Basque Clubs from Central and South America, organized by the Basque Government, was held at the Hotel Republica. The kickoff was then followed by the traditional public dance to the music of Huntza from the Basque Country that connected with the youth, and made the entire place dance, filling the entire clubhouse.
