The Euzko Etxea Basque club in Santiago will begin Semana Vasca 2015 today with an official reception at the clubhouse. Along with numerous Basque-Chileans, the Deputy General of Bizkaia, Unai Rementeria will also be in attendance as he is on a commercial mission in Chile with Basque entrepreneurs. Semana Vasca will run through Sunday with a wide range of original activities including concerts, Olympics, a Korrika Txiki and much more.
Santiago, Chile. The Euzko Etxea in Santiago is getting ready to start enjoying Semana Vasca 2015 starting this afternoon with an official inauguration and cocktails served at the clubhouse by a group of Bizkaian chefs. The event will also be attended by a delegation from the Provincial Government of Bizkaia led by Deputy General, Unai Rementeria who is currently on a commercial visit in Chile.
Tomorrow, the clubhouse will be the site of a music, song and dance show, while Saturday the day will be more festive and social with Olympics, a Basque luch and an “Akelarre” to finish the evening. Semana Vasca will conclude on Sunday with a Korrika Txiki, an exhibition by dancers from Itxaropen Gaztea and the club’s Basque Choir as well as a meal.
Bizkaian Commercial Mission
One of the participants at Semana Vasca is Unai Rementeria, Deputy General of Bizkaia, who is currently visiting Chile along with the Deputy of Public Administration and Institutional Relations, Ibone Bengoetxea, and the director of Foreign Affairs, Koldo Atxutegi. The goal of the trip is “to attract investments in Bizkaia and to open markets for our businesses,” according to Rementeria at a meeting with businessmen and investors in Chile.
Rementeria was welcomed at the La Moneda Palace, seat of the Chilean Government by Jorge Burgos, Minister of the Interior and president of Chilean functions since the country’s President, Michel Bachelet is traveling in the Philippines. Rementeria has also met with the Minister of Public Works, Alberto Undurraga.
