Vitoria-Gasteiz. According to an announcement by Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu last November at the Argentine Basque National Week, the 7th World Congress of Basque Collectivities Abroad will take place at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao October 2-4, with representatives of Basque collectivities abroad in behalf of 193 Basque clubs established in 25 countries. The Secretary General of Foreign Action, Marian Elorza, and the Director of the Basque Community Abroad, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu presented an image and the motto of the 7th World Congress of Basque Collectivities yesterday in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
“Saregintzan, Weaving Networks,” is the motto of the 7th World Congress of Basque Collectivities Abroad, “that reflects the new global era, interactions between Basque communities abroad in 25 coverings, and invites attendees to reflect on the Basque Diaspora in the 21st Century,” the Basque Government’s Secretary General of Foreign Action explained.
This gathering is celebrated every four years and will celebrate its 7th edition this year with a commitment to “support the meeting and collaboration of Basque communities and Basque institutions, as well as facilitate a debate and exchange of opinions.” “The conference will result in proceedings that will include the Four Year Plan for 2020-2023, to be developed over the four years following the congress,” the Basque Government representatives said.
During the days leading up to the congress the Gaztemundu Program will take place with 15 youth from Basque clubs from all around the world between the ages of 18-30. Part of this program will be to attend the congress where they will have a voice, however no vote. Votes are reserved for representatives from each country that has a Basque organization. The theme of Gaztemundu 2019 is management of cultural entities.
