San Francisco, California, USA. Every February, the Basque Cultural Center has this date marked in red on its calendar. This year too, when they will celebrate the 39th anniversary of “Gure Euskal Etxea,” constructed by auzolan (Basque communal work) and inaugurated with its fronton in 1982. Last year, the anniversary was the last event to be celebrated prior to the pandemic, and the next scheduled big event, a Bertsolari Tribute, had to be cancelled. This year, there will not be an in person gathering, but everyone can still share the same meal next week's Saturday.
On Saturday, February 13th, the Basque club will prepare meals for take out, so everyone can enjoy it in the comfort of their own homes, while sharing a meal and still feeling as part of the larger community. Cost of the meal is $50 for adults and $25 for children. As usual, meals must be prepaid, by this Sunday and meal pick up will take place between noon and 2pm.
It goes without saying that this is an opportunity to taste and share healthy, quality food, while supporting Gure Euskal Etxea. To RSVP email Yvette Mindequia (ymindeguia@gmail.com) or buy for your meal online here.
In another vein, the Basque Cultural Center's restaurant has prepared a special menu as well for the next day, Valentine’s Day, which is open to the public. The deadline to RSVP for those meals is February 7th as well, however in this case you need to make your reservation by calling 1 650 583 8091. For more information, including the menu, click here.
