Today at noon, Iruña will pull the trigger on San Fermin 2016 with the rocket launch.  The festivities will take to the states in the capital of Navarre and will paint them in red and white over the coming days.  The Diaspora, for another year, will join in the party from a distance, with several celebrations at Basque clubs in Argentina, Shanghai, London, and Boise…. Following are some of the events.

Iruña-Pamplona.   Everything is ready in the town hall’s square for the 2016 Txupinazo that will officially begin the San Fermin festivities this year.  Besides Pamplona, there will also be festivities in Lesaka, Navarre, as well as other towns in the Basque Country.  And of course, in the Diaspora where Navarran and Basques all over the world organize their own events and celebrations.

In Shanghai, for example, the local Basque club will gather its members, the majority young Basques who are working in China, to enjoy Sanferminero.  The event will be on Saturday, July 9 at the La Bota Restaurant in Shanghai.

On the same day in Boise, ID, the Euzkaldunak Basque club has organized a special Encierro called “Running of the Bars,” a popular poteo in honor of San Fermin.  The festivities will begin at 6pm at the Boise Basque center and will tour the bars on the Basque Block.  Organizers are promising a festive night, with competitions and a lot of fun.  All proceeds will be donated to the Ikastola in Boise and the Basque Museum and Cultural Center.

In London, the London Basque Society has also organized a San Fermin party for this Saturday that will also include an encierro.  The festivities will begin at noon with an encierro from the Oxford House, the Basque club’s headquarters.  There will be drinks on the way to the London Fields in Hackney, followed by a picnic, Basque music, games and much fun.

Besides there events, Basque clubs in Argentina have also orgnaized various festivities, that we´ll speak about after the festivities.  We would also invite other clubs that organize San Fermin events to let us know by writing in our comments section, or sending an email to: info@euskalkultura.com so that they can be included in our agenda.

Eskerrik asko eta Gora San Fermin!
