In Brazil, a delegation from the Basque Club in Rio Grande do Sul, led by president Ana Luiza Panyagua Etchalus, visited the Gaucho Institute of Tradition and Folklore in Porto Alegre. They were welcomed by president, Vinicius Brum along with other board members. While there, they discussed the need to research and recuperate the Basque contribution to the formation of the gaucho culture in the area, among other topics.
Porto Alegre,Brazil. The Basque club representatives visited the IGTF (Instituto Gaúcho de Tradição e Folclore) last Monday being welcomed by the institutions president, Vinicius Brum, who was accompanied by directors, directors Ivo Ladislau and Roberto Carlos Coelho.
The delegation was led by club president, Ana Luiza Etchalus and its vice-president, Valerio Azkonobieta as well as the director of Tradition and Folklore, Ederson Otharan. One of the ideas behind the meeting was to promote and investigate the possibility of deepening research into the contribution of Basque immigrants in the formation of the Gaucho-Riograndense culture.
Collaboration and the possibility of the Basque club participating in the IGTF activities like the Expointer 2015, the Assis Brazil Park in Esteio, as well as other institute activities were also on the agenda.
