Villa Maria, Argentina. The South American Basque community is getting ready to enjoy Argentina’s National Semana Vasca once again. This year’s host is the city of Villa Maria in the province of Cordoba November 8-10. The Villa Maria Basque club notified us that not only the Basque club and Basque community are working hard on the organization of the events, but so is the entire community, including city hall, local universities and the press are committed to make it a successful event.
They want to stress that this year’s voucher only includes meals and gatherings, but that lodging is not included. Depending on the number of days and type of voucher requested, the amounts follow:
Voucher Friday, Saturday and Sunday
-Dantzaris and Basque students: 620 pesos (includes 5 meals and 2 gatherings)
-Chaperones: $700 (includes 5 meals and 2 gatherings)
Voucher Saturday and Sunday
-Dantzaris and Basque students: $470 (includes 3 meals and 1 gathering)
-Chaperones: $500 (includes 3 meals and 1 gathering)
Individual Prices:
-Friday and Saturday lunch: $100 C/u
-Friday and Saturday meals and gatherings: $200 C/u
-Friday and Saturday Romeria (gathering) $40 C/u
-Sunday lunch and final banquet: $200

Program of Activities
Organizers of this year’s Semana Vasca have published the tentative program of activities although it could still be modified. Events begin the beginning of November with the exhibit of Gernika 75th Anniversary that will be open to the public during the week. Main activities will take place between November 8-10, following the plan provided here:
Friday, November 8
-9:00-17:00, Regional Congress of Basque communities in South America and the Caribbean, with the presence of Basque Government authorities, including the delegate of the Basque Government for Mercosur Sara Pagola and Director for the Basque Communities Abroad, Asier Vallejo
-17:30-19:00, talk “Stateless nations” by César Arrondo
-20:30, Choir Meeting
-21:30, Dinner and Erromeria (dance)
Saturday, November 9
-9:00, FEVA meeting, Library meeting, delivery of the ceremonial flag
-13:00, Lunch and games in the afternoon
-17:00-18:00, Kalejira to the Municipal Amphitheater
-20:15, Artistic evening at the Municipal Amphitheater. At the end of the gala, dinner and Erromeria (dance)
Sunday, November 10
-Outdoor mass
-Dancing in the Plaza
-Farewell Banquet
In regards to locales, the Basque club has announced that meals and erromeriak (dances) will take place in the Bomarraca room at the Rivadavia School (Calle Antonio Sobral 550) and that the Gala will be at the Municipal Amphitheater. Mass and dancing will take place in the Plaza at Costanera del Río, Av. Libertador José de San Martín, in front of the Grotto of the Virgin of Pompeya.
