Wroclaw, Poland. The city of Wroclaw shares the European Cultural Capital 2016 and the motors are gearing up for the date. One of the activities was to strengthen ties with Donostia that is why the organizers in Wroclaw 2016 organized a conference on Basque culture. The event took place on June 20-23, and according to Amaia Dones, Basque language and culture lecturer at the University of Poznan.
The conference included various workshops with various offerings like a class on fashion based on Basque clothes, cooking classes, film, music and a workshop on illustration. During the four days, several Wroclaw citizens enjoyed the activities, and many of taking place “on an enjoyable patio outside,” Dones said.
The illustration workshop also included a special guest from Euskal Herria, the writer Patxi Zubizarreta. During the workshop the translation into Polish of his story Magalik badaki was illustrated and Zubizarreta shared his reflections on his work with the participants, inspiration and the current situation of Basque illustration.
On the other hand, Amaia Dones, Basque lecturer at the University of Poznan, hosted a workshop on Euskera for two days.
