Buenos Aires, Argenitna. To continue his 2015 experience, the Basque dantzari and txistulari Patxi Perez will return to Argentina this year for an even more complete proposal. As the dance teacher from Lapurdi explained, “the idea is to continue what we began in 2015, when I learned about the Basque clubs in the south. This year, the tour will take place in the north. Last year I left there, eager to come back and participate in Semana Vasca that I will fortunately be able to do in Necochea.”
With the support of the EKE-Euskal Kultur Erakundea, who is paying for half of the trip, the tour will begin in Buenos Aires, from where Perez will travel to Misiones to meet with members of the Corpus Christi Basque club. His participation at Semana Nacional in Necochea is also confirmed. Between presentations, there are still some open dates and so the artist invites Basque clubs to contact him to organize workshops on plaza dancing.
The places and dates that have been confirmed so far:
-October 14-15, Dantza Piko, performance with explanatory dances workshop at Eusketxe
-October 15, Dantza Piko guided by Patxi Perez at the Euskal Echea College Festival in Llavallol
-October 22-23, workshops on plaza danzas at the Eusko Etxea in Corpus Christi open to the public
The group’s musicians will arrive in Argentina on November 2, and so from then on presentations will be conducted by the entire ensemble:
-November 5, presentation in a public place (details to be confirmed); dance at Eusko Kultur Etxea
-November 9, Dantza Piko Workshop, and course for dance instructors in training at the Jorge Donn School
-November 11-12, Semana Vasca in Necochea
-November 19, activity with Basque clubs in Bariloche and /or San Martin de los Andes (TBC)
Given the itinerary, the Basque artist’s invites Basque clubs who wish to organize an event to contact him, especially those located between Misiones and the city of Buenos Aires between October 24 and November 5. The same goes for those between Necochea and San Martin de los Andes. Interested clubs should contact Aitor Alava here: alava.aitor@gmail.com.
Request and Invitation
To be able to perform recitals, the musicians that accompany Perez will need a guitar and a bass drum, two things that they can’t bring on an airplane. The group thanks anyone who can loan them the instruments to use on their tour. Anyone with information should contact Pat via email: patmaribel@orange.fr.
On another note, one of Patxi’s musicians, Jimmy Arrabit, former member of Itoitz and cycling fan, will bring his bike in hopes of cycling from Buenos Aires to Necochea. In order to do so, Arrabit asks anyone in the cycling world information about the roads, rest stops and advice. Of course anyone wishing to join him, is also welcome to do so. His contact is: ochosiri@yahoo.fr.
