Trelew, Argentina. After a period of inactivity after the death of Clavel Sagredo, Basque club founder and president, the Basque community in the Northeast of the province of Chubut in Patagonia, Argentina is working to reactivate the Basque club. The first step was to create a new board of directors that could “put things in order” the legal situation, and the club’s facilities. The board was elected on December 30th and is led by Salvador Bonachea.
Bonachea explains that their priorities are, “add members, contact Basque descendants and other Basque clubs in the province and country,” in this way “to participate and generate events that keep our culture and traditions alive, as well as reach out to the Basque Country to carry out joint projects,” according to the El Chubut daily.
They have made the call, and anyone who would like to join should reach out to the club on Facebook. The Northeast Basque Club in Chubut was founded in 1995 and is located in the city of Trelew.
