This afternoon the sessions of the 2015 Gaztemundu program will conclude. The Basque Government, through its Directorate for the Basque Community Abroad has carried out them since September 27. Now, participants, the fifteen youth from Basque clubs around the world, will join in the VI World Congress of Basque Collectivities starting tomorrow. The Congress will be held at the Montehermoso Palace in Vitoria-Gasteiz through October 9.
Vitoria-Gasteiz. Last week the fifteen youth that participate in Gaztemundu 2015 have been following an intensive course all week long. Eleven of these youth come from Argentina with two from Uruguay, and one each from both Colombia and Mexico, and have participated in the course “Management of Cultural Projects” since September 28 through October 2. Besides classes, they have also had a chance to visit the Basque Country combining courses with visits to places of interest.
After spending Friday on topics like “Design, planning and cultural project evaluation,” and “Working in teams and leadership: captivating younger generations,” the group visited the Albaola Museum in Pasaia, Gipuzkoa on Saturday. They also had visitedt with Itsaso Anduiza, president of the Euskadiko Gazteriaren Kontseilua (Youth Council of Euskadi). On Sunday the group participated in Kilometroak, Gipuzkoa’s Ikastola fetival that took place this year in Usurbil.
Today, Monday, the group will have a special training session at the Lehendakaritza in Gasteiz, and tomorrow, they will join in the program for the VI World Congress of Basque Collectivities. Tomorrow will include a reception and welcome ot the Congress and the youth, along with other delegates from Basque clubs will travel to Gernika to visit the Tree, the Casa de Juntas, and the Peace Museum. It will be a day that will allow attendees to get to know each other before the official inauguration on Wednesday.
