Paraná, Argentina. Although the health situation in this city of Entre Rios continues to be critical, looking towards summer, authorities have begun to allow some face-to-face activities. Under these new conditions, the Urrundik Basque Association plans to resume dance classes and theater practice at the clubhouse within the next days always following the strict health protocol required.
Other activities, like guitar and chess lessons, as well as the radio program “Presencia Vasca,” will stay virtual, as they have been since last March.
Chess Tournament
Urrundik sources told EuskalKultura.eus that chess is the their activity best adapted to virtual format, for practice as well as the possibility of organizing tournaments with local, national and even international participation.
The last tournament organized by Urrundik was the Defensa Siciliana Dragón tournament. The event gathered more than 40 chess players from Argentina, the Basque Country, Paraguay and Uruguay. The winner was Joaquín Rodrigo Jiménez from the Argentine province of Misiones.
The initiatives of the Chess School at Urrundik is also open to the youngest. During the month of October, there was a tournament for those under the age of 12. Some 50 kids participated from Argentina, Spain, Paraguay and Uruguay, which was won by Azariel Segovia from Salta, Argentina.
