La Plata, Argentina. The invitation to participate in the fourth Paella Contest organized by the Euzko Etxea in La Plata was very well received, with 8 groups participating: members of the library and Basque students (from the club and the Lectureship at the UNLP); the Casal de Catalunya; the Lomas de Zamora Basque Club; the women from the Euzko Etxea; the adult club dancers, and a group formed by Hockey, the children’s soccer school, and the blind soccer players; the Zaharrak dance group and a group that was comprised of pilotaris and choir members.
After tasting the 8 variety, the jury awarded first prize to Euzko Etxea adult dancers, while second place was shared between the sports group (hockey, soccer, and blind soccer) and the Casal de Catalunya.
Program charged with activities
After the Paella contest, the Euskal Etxea continues with its June proposals, including today, Thursday June 16 at 17:30pm there will be a screening of Begiradak as part of the Film Series organized by the Matxin Burdin Library.
On June 26 the Muslaris will gather at Euzko Etxea to participate in their 3rd Mus Tournament, looking towards the National Tournament.
In May, there was also intense activity at the Euzko Etxea. On the 25th, as part of the 206th anniversary of the Argentine May Revolution and organized by the city of La Plata, club members participated in the parade that took place on Calle 12, along with other local sports, cultural, educational, social and military entities. Also in May, the soccer team for the blind traveled to Baradero, where they competed in a day of integration and to Bahia Blanca where they competed against local teams.
On May 14, the club celebrated its 72nd anniversary and celebrated at the Toki Alai Hall. The event was organized by the Denak Bat Dancers and also included a performance by the choir and dance performances by the intermediate and adult dancers. Dancers from the Lomas de Zamora, Chascomus, Cañuelas, Mar del Plata and Buenos Aires dance groups also participated. There was also representation from the Casal de Catalunya.
In May there were also talks, specifically by Gorka Elejabarrieta Diaz, accompanied by Asier Altuna. They are members of the Department of International Relations in Sortu. After discussing “The Political Situation in Euskal Herria: Challenges and Dares” those present enjoyed a meal at Lagun Artean.
