The film series, “Chez les Basques,” programmed during the 9th edition of the Point of View Festival, will be shown in various theaters in Iparralde from November 7-15. These films return to the place they were made, thanks to the collaboration of Point of View and Euskal Kultur Erakundea. The films can be seen in Iruña-Pamplona, Donibane Lohizune, Ortzaize, Maule, Donapaleu, Donibane Garazi, and Biarritz, among other locations.
Iruña-Pamplona, Nafarroa. The film series Chez les Basques will travel to Iparralde where they can be seen in very special sessions. The films will be shown in the towns where they were made. In some cases, according to the Point of View Festival, series organizers, they will be shown exactly on the spot where they were recorded, or very close to it.
The series will begin on November 7 at the Le Select theater in Donibane Lohitzune at 20:30, with a talk entitled, “Ziburu,” by Bernardo Atxaga and the a screening of Around the World with Orson Welles (Pays Basque I + Pays Basque II)". On November 8, the Vauban Theater in Donibane Garazi will welcome it at 17:00 with "Euskadi été 1982" (Euskadi Summer 1982) (Otar Iosselliani) and Garazi.
On Novmeber 9, at 20:30, Around the World with Orson Welles (Pays Basque I + Pays Basque II)" will once again be shown at the Les Variétés Theater in Hendaia. On the 10th The Basques of Santazi" and "Maskaradak" (1980, Jean-Dominique Lajoux) are programmed at the Baitha theater in Mauléon at 20.30.
On the 11th, at 17:00 the film Le Curé Basque de Greciette" (The Priest from Greciette) (1958, Hubert Knapp) will be shown at the Haritz Barne theater in Hazparne along with Aux Pays des Basques (In the Country of the Basques) (1930, Maurice Champreux). The following day, at the Salle Garbi theater in Ortzaitze at 20:30 Around the World with Orson Welles (Pays Basque I + Pays Basque II), will once again be shown. On November 12, at 19:00 at the L’aiglon Theater in Kanbo Around the World with Orson Welles (Pays Basque I + Pays Basque II) will also be shown along with Le Curé basque de Greciette (1958, Hubert Knapp).
The next day, at 20:30, at the Itsas Mendi Theater in Urruña Le Chermin D’Ernoa (The Path of Ernoa) (1921, Louis Delluc, René Coiffard) and Rochers de la Vierge (Rocks of the Virgin) (1896, Auguste Lumière, Louis Lumière) will be shown. On November 14, at 20:30 Au Pays des Basques (1930, Maurice Champreux) and Rochers de la Vierge (1896, Auguste Lumière, Louis Lumière) will be shown at the Royal Theater in Biarritz. On the same day, it will be Le Curé basque de Greciette’s turn (1958, Hubert Knapp) along with Croquis en Soule (Sketch in Soule) (1958, Hubert Knapp), at 20:30 at the Saint-Louis Theaer in Donapaleu
The series will conclude at the mythic Atalante in Baiona on November 15 at 17:00 with the debut of Hitza egin (Speak) by Eugène Green.
