Six youth from the Basque Country will participate in this year’s Hator Hona exchange program between Euskal Herria and Argentina, organized by the Euzko Etxea in Nechochea with the collaboration of member families. The program will take place between July 17 and August 9 and during three weeks the visitors will teach a variety of workshops.
Necochea, Argentina. It wasn’t easy for members of the Zahar Alai Basque dancers to choose the individuals that will participate in 2015’s Hator Hona program, mostly because the number of applications largely surpassed the available number of spots and the quality of the resumes. Nevertheless, and after the selection process, the dantzaris published the list on their Blog as well as on their Facebook page. The participants are:
-Izaskun Igoa Lizarraga (Etxarri-Aranatz)
-Maddi Del Campo Etxeberria (Añorga)
-Aitor Guridi (Oñati)
-Maider Otaegi Alkorta (Ibarra)
-Nebai Callejo Astulez (Alegría-Dulantzi)
-Miren Lekuona Alberro (Irun)
As in prior editions, a delegation from the club will welcome the travelers in Buenos Aires and will take them to Necochea where they will be welcomed. Later, and over the next three weeks, the young Basques will provide a number of workshops on Euskera, music and dance, food and sports – rural as well as basketball – and will present what was learned as part of the Basque club events during the months of July and August.
“We want to thank everyone for their interest in the project and to those who publicized it. The huge response and the number of applications that we receive from year to year encourage us to keep moving forward. While we wish everyone could participate, the spots available limit us and so it is impossible. For those who were not chosen, we hope to maybe meet them next year,” Hator Hona organizers said after publishing the list.
