San Francisco, CA, USA. In the United States, NABO and Mikaela Goicoechea have launched a new proposal Foku Musikala, during this time of confinement and cancellation of face-to-face activities. The program is aimed at children and youth as well as adults and hopes to cultivate and share a song, or musical resource, keeping everyone who has been deprived of classes, essays or dates on the US Basque calendar active and enriched.
Mikaela Goicoechea was appointed as NABO’s Music Programs Director at its latest meeting held in San Francisco in February. This is a newly-created post that the young Wyomingite assumed with pride and enthusiasm. Mikaela is currently studying music education and singing at university. She has practically grown surrounded by music and cultural activities being the daughter of Bertsolari Martin Goicoechea, who is also NABO’s Euskera Chairperson and Ronnie Goicoechea, who used to direct the Rock Springs Basque choir. This latest initiative supports collaboration between NABO’s Music, Euskera and Udaleku programs.
Mikaela explains what Foku Musikala consists of, as well as how interested individuals can participate from home. NABO, through its website coordinated by Lisa Corcostegui, NABO webmaster, and through Astero will regulary publish new installments of the new program that began this week with the song "Haurrak ikas zazue."
Ongi etorri Mikaela Goicoechea to this new NABO contribution. Urte askoan!
