Mar del Plata, Argentina. The first gathering of active musicians organized by FEVA took place last Saturday, February 16 in Mar del Plata and gathered representatives from Basque clubs in Bahía Blanca, Tres Arroyos, San Nicolás, Buenos Aires (Euskaltzaleak and Laurak Bat), Villa María, Maipú, Necochea, as well as the locals in Mar del Plata. During the entire day, the artists rehearsed individually, by instrument, as well as together, always under the coordination of txistulari Jose Maria Gutierrez from the Laurak Bat Basque Club in Buenos Aires.
As Gutierrez told EuskalKultura.com, “there is great satisfaction and enthusiasm on the part of participants to continue working tougher. They made plans for commitments, and activities for the year, including another gathering before Semana Vasca.”
After the workshop, the musicians joined in the Jaialdi organized by Denak Bat with the pieces they had rehearsed during the day providing live music to the event. Besides music, the festival also included “Basque dance and excellent pintxos,” according to Denak Bat sources.
