The Euzko Alkartasuna Basque club will turn 57 on Sunday.  At the same time, the hotel that houses the Basque club has also recently celebrated its 50th.  In hopes of celebrating both birthdays, Basques in Macachin organized a program of activities or the weekend that included a Mus Tournament and lunch for everybody.  Tickets for both activities are on sale at the club. 

Macachín, Argentina.   With more than 5 decades of life, the Basque club in Macachin, in the province of La Pampa, is especially active.  There was no doubt of that last year, as they organized last year’s Semana Nacional with the collaboration of the entire community, and left the bar pretty high.  It was a challenge and club members and friends overcame it, just like they will overcome the equal challenge of maintaining the stimulus and Basque activities throughout the year.

To celebrate the 57th anniversary of the club and the 50th of the hotel, the club invites everyone to participate in its 50th Mus Tournament along with an anniversary lunch.  The tournament will take place on Friday the 26 and Saturday the 27; it will cost 400 pesos, including registration and meals on both days.  The invitation is extended to muslaris across the country.

The anniversary lunch will take place at the end of the tournament and is open to the entire community.  Cost of the meal is 150 pesos.  The venue will be the Basque club’s gym and will include a performance by club dancers, music as well as gifts, competitions, and unveiling of plaques among other things.

Summer activities at the Hotel

Summer 2016 has been a very active one at the Hotel Euzko Alkartasuna, mainly surrounding activities organized by the Hotel’s administration in its swimming pool and sports facilities.  During January, and part of February there were swimming lessons, baby and me swimming as well as water aerobics classes. For the smallest, on the other hand, there was a summer camp.  The cafeteria at Euzko Alkartasuna also worked non-stop.  The terrace, facing the plaza, became a meeting place for the locals to enjoy a drink in the fresh air, as well as live music.
