Mar del Plata Argentina will host more than 120 people this Sunday that all have something in common: they are all members of the same family, the Arrechea-Arrachea family. They are descendants of the Navarrese Juan Mateo and Juan Cruz Arreche Amorena, from Baztan Valley, who immigrated to Argentina and began an extensive family with members in Gral. Madariaga, Balcarce, Maipú, Adolfo González Chavez, Labardén, Pergamino, La Plata, Buenos Aires, Tandil, Guaminí among others. They met for the first time in 2010 and the experience was so interesting that this is already their third reunion.

Mar del Plata, Argentina.  The Arrachea-Arrechea-Amorena family will hold its third reunion this Sunday in Mar del Plata, Argentina.  According to one of the organizers, Maria Marta Arrachea, who spoke to EuskalKultura.com, more than 120 have already confirmed their attendance that will be coming from places like Gral. Madariaga, Balcarce, Maipú, Adolfo González Chavez, Labardén, Pergamino, La Plata, Buenos Aires, Tandil, Bahía Blanca, Tres Arroyos, La Pampa, Gral. Lavalle, Misiones, Mar del Ajó, Guamin, among other cities in Argentina.

The family are the descendants of Juan Bautista Arrechea and Ana Maria Amorena, originally from Irurita, in the Baztan Valley in Nafarroa.  Their sons Juan Mateo and Juan Cruz Arrechea Amorena immigrated to Argentina at the end of the XIX century and there gave birth to this broad family saga.  In some cases the spelling of the last name was changed from Arrechea, and several family members now spell it Arrachea.
