As part of the Summer Courses offered by the University of the Basque Country this summer, the Directorate of the Basque Community Abroad in collaboration with the town of Azkoitia and the Royal Society of Friends of the Basque Country, will hold “Migration and Mobility of the Basque Community Abroad.”  The course will be held in the Intsausti Palace in Azkoitia, Gipuzkoa.

Vitoria-Gasteiz.  The Basque Government explained that the goal of the course is to begin a debate for future actions in the Basque Community Abroad.  That is, to begin an analytical approach, to be followed up in future courses, on the Basque presence abroad in the 21^st century.  This debate should then provide clear conclusions from which public policy can be developed.

The course will gather experts in the area of the Basque community abroad, migration and mobility and this:

• Establish a regular form for the exchange of ideas about the potential of the Basque presence abroad and how it contributes to a more prosperous and competitive Euskadi in Europe and in the globalized world.
• Outline a policy for the Basque presence abroad in the 21^st century: What practices must be developed from now on and what commitments must be made with the Basque community living abroad.
