The president of the Eiken Cluster, Aletxu Echevarria, and its director of international development, Veronica Sanchez, are touring Argentina for a week. In the city of Mendoza, they signed an agreement with local Basque companies in hopes of fostering audiovisual productions between Argentina and the Basque Country. They also met with the local Basque community, and were invited to dinner at Denak Bat by the club’s youth.
Mendoza, Argentina. Invited by Andes Film (Creative and Audiovisual Cluster in the province of Mendoza), and the BACA (Audiovisual Cluster of Buenos Aires), the president of Eiken, Aletxu Echevarria, and the director of International Development, Veronica Sanchez, visited Argentina June 13-18th.
During their stay, the representatives of the Basque association met in Mendoza with the Provincial Minister of Taxes and Finance, Martin Kerchner, and with civil servants from ProMendoza and Andes Film in hopes of boosting the production and creation of local products. In the course of the meeting, the locals presented the characteristics of the audiovisual sector in Mendoza.
As part of the meeting, and according to the local Los Andes newspaper, they also signed an agreement between businesses in Misiones, Cordoba, Rosario, and Mendoza to develop a strategy to support regional audiovisual production. Participants in the agreement include Eiken Cluster, the Network of Audiovisual Producers in Misiones; the Association of Audiovisual Producers of Cordoba; the Chamber of Audiovisual producers in Cordoba; and the Andes Film Audiovisual Cluster in Mendoza. The agreement provides for the “complementation, exchange and mutual collaboration in all academic, professional, social and cultural activities that the parties have agreed to carry out within the framework of their respective interests, including the possibility of creating co-productions.”
Dinner at Denak Bat
During their stay in Mendoza, representatives from Eiken made sure to get in touch with the local Basque club who welcomed them, and celebrated with a dinner. Lautaro Pincheira, Basque club representative, told EuskalKultura.com that along with Echevarria and Sanchez, provincial authorities and producers from other provinces also attended, as well as a large number of members and friends that joined in the Basque club reception.
