Trenque Lauquen, Argentina. The author of Cocina Vasca Campesina (Rural Basque Cooking) presented her book at the Euskal Sustraiak Basque Club in Trenque Lauquen. Some forty people attended the class/presentation and delighted in the creation and explanation of the dishes as well as being able to enjoy them afterwards. “While she prepared the food, Marita told us stories about Basques, mixed with mythology, customs, and all that we like to hear and that reminded us of our ancestors. All of this took place in a familiar setting, as if we were in a big baserri,” Alejandra Bengochea, club Basque teacher, told EuskalKultura.com.
Enthusiastic about the proposal, attendees urged the board of directors to continue with more of these types of activities.
This activity was the first of many club activities that will resume little by little. Dance classes resumed last Friday to be held on Fridays with Daiana Aguirre; Euskera will also be held on Fridays from 7:30-9pm taught by Alejandra Bengochea. Both activities are free and open to the public.
