Arrecifes, Argentina. In the beginning the proposal was aimed to people in Arrecifes and the surrounding region, but as the years have passed, and word of the trip along with them, people from all over the country have been tempted to join in. So last year’s trip in August included passengers from Trenque Lauquen, General Rodríguez, Bragado, Arrecifes, Buenos Aires, Necochea, Bolívar, Pérez Millan, Comodoro Rivadavia, Junín and San Nicolás.
In the words of Mariana Dominé, organizer and chaperone, “as in previous years, next year’s trip will be a spectacular experience, with a varied group who will get along great. Everyone will enjoy and be amazed by the beauty that Euskal Herria offers, and for me personally, it is a pleasure to be able to show them the country through the eyes of someone who loves the place. They always return having fallen in love,” she explains.
Since they are “personalized” trips besides, there are many people who come to Euskal Herria looking for family members, sometimes that they didn’t know before. “This is something to highlight: the anxiety of the search, the shared emotion at the family meetings….,” Dominé added.
The 2018 trip will be Mariana’s fourth, and with her prior experience, she already has a basic itinerary that will take the travelers “to visit what can’t be left without seeing. The departure will be in August from Ezeiza, with the first stop being Bilbao, where the tour of the capitals will begin, including the Bizkaian and Gipuzkoan coasts, Getxo, Portugalete bridge, Gaztelugatxe, Getaria, Zarautz, Hondarribia…then on to towns in the interior like Gernika, Tolosa, Oñati, Zumarraga…and touristic destinations like the Arriaga Theater, the caves at Santimamiñe and Zugarramurdi or Arantzazu, among others.” On every trip, travelers will be accompanied by a local guide. Travel will take on luxury buses, and lodging is in four-star hotesl. According to the trip’s promoter, “the idea is to arrive in Bilbao by Aste Nagusia; it is an excellent cultural offering in a festive climate that nobody should miss.”
