Sabrina Otegui / Buenos Aires, Argentina-Salto, Uruguay. Visual artist, Maria Anglea Juanena, approached the Saltoko Euskaldunen Taldea Basque Club in Salto, Uruguay to relive what she had nurtured as a child; what her parents, natives of Lekunberri Navarre Eugenio Juanena and Regina Beraza, were longing for. But she received much more from the Basque club including the possibility of teaching art and getting to know Euskal Herria through its visual artists.
Maria Angela Juanena has been in charge of the club’s Art Workshop for years and besides she has decorated the main hall of the clubhouse with paintings that show typical landscapes and characters from Euskal Herria. Professor, and students research Basque art, research that is shared in the club’s blog. Angela talked to us about these and other adventures in the following interview. Mila esker Angela!
