The Villegasko Euskaldunak Basque club in Gral. Villegas, in the Argentinean province of Buenos Aires, celebrated San Fermin with a Home Deli Festival. For the second year in a row, the gastronomic-cultural event gathered nearly 300 people who also enjoyed a concert by the Basque-Argentinean group, Maral.

The event again included dinner this year with a menu comprised of homemade cold cuts and cheeses plus lentil stew with txistorra as a main dish.  All of this accompanied of course by fine wines.

Throughout the evening there was varied entertainment, among those a bota toured the tables, and there were raffles too.  However, without a doubt, the best part was thanks to the members from Arrecifes of the group Maral.  As part of their 3rd visit to Gral. Villegas, the group didn’t only sing songs from its latest album but also had everyone on the dance floor.

“This year we were nearly 300 people and so we had to hold it at the local SUM Volunteer Firemen’s Hall.  Even if the work on the Euskal Etxea is well underway, we still have a few things to do before inaugurating it.  We didn’t make it for this event but we are hoping to hold the 3rd annual Home Deli Festival in our new clubhouse,” said club Basque teacher Nieves Castillo to EuskalKultura.com.
