To celebrate the International Day of Euskera and the 2015 end-of-year activities, the Beti Aurrera Berri Etxea Basque club celebrated the “Patagonian ere bai!” (In Patagonia too!) Festival.  The festivities were attended by a delegation from the Union Vasca Basque club in Bahia Blanca and as president Maria del Carmen Elzaurdia told EuskalKultura.com, “it was a great opportunity to realize that when we work together, nothing is difficult.”

Viedma, Argentina.   During a very special year for the club [remember they inaugurated their clubhouse last March], the club that includes Basques in the communities of Viedma (province of Rio Negro) and Carmen de Patagones (province of Buenos Aires) situated on either side of the Negro River, celebrated Euskera Day and the end of the year on December 13.

Under the name “Patagonian ere bai!” the festival began at 10am with a welcome for the delegation from the Union Vasca Basque club in Bahia Blanca and concluded in the afternoon with a show of music, dance and rural Basque sports at the Plaza del Fundador.  During the entire day, those present could enjoy a warm get-together that was not lacking in old friends getting together, songs and the presentation of diplomas to those who participated in the 2015 activities.

A nice ceremony was made with Basque club members of both sides of the river getting together.

In the words of club president, Maria del Carmen Elzaurdia, “it was a beautiful festival and above all very significant because it gave us the chance to try ourselves, and show that if we work together, nothing is too complicated or hard.  That is why we are happy,” the president said.

This Thursday, the Beti Aurrera Aberri Etxea will have its last activity of 2015.  Along with other communities in the city, members of the choir will represent the Basque Country at the Viedma Christmas Eve Cantata.
